COMMUNITY MINISTRIES

Our Lord said: "Whatever you do for the least of these, you do for me." Matthew 25:40

The following lists represent the ministries that are currently supported by the ECC Community Ministry Board.

  • More than 700 people have been seen at the New Hope Community Health Clinic and many have accepted the Lord as well.
  •  Between 50 and 75 Seniors meet every Thursday for food, fellowship and spiritual growth at our Senior Drop-In.
  •  Our MOMS program meets each week to provide for young mothers in their spiritual journey.
  •  The ACTS tutoring program services many of our
    neighborhood youth each week.
  •  We provide the "Open Pantry" food bank with regular donations of non-perishable food items. Several thousand items were delivered last year.
  •  We support several seasonal programs like our Angel Tree Ministry which provides Christmas gifts to children with parents that are incarcerated.
  •  We support our local prison ministry "Residents Encounter Christ".
  •  We support the Springfield Pregnancy Care Center.
  •  We support the Springfield Rescue Misssion and its programs.
  •  Meals are provided for people in need through our Brown Bag Blessings program at holiday times.

OPPORTUNITIES

For the past fourteen years local churches have encouraged their members to participate in collecting and donating new items of underclothing to the Springfield Resue Mission for distribution to the homeless.  Although donations have been generous in food, used clothing and toiletries, many times we do not have enough underwear to meet the need throughout the year.  This basic necessity for the homeless is often overlooked.  We are requesting NEW T-shirts, underwear, and socks for men, women, and children.  All sizes are needed, especially medium, large, and extra large.  Drop off your donations in the designated box in Fellowship Hall by November 8, 2008.  THANK YOU.
